The Durban branch held its annual function at The Heritage Theatre on 30 November 2013. The venue was filled to capacity with industry vendors and their guests and there was a buzz of excitement in the air as old friends reacquainted and readied themselves for an evening of good food, great company and fun entertainment. Chairman, Howard Lister, gave an overview of the branch activities and thanked the committee for their hard work before awarding Pulen Govender the certificate for ‘Best Technology Evening presentation during the year’.
President Vinesh Maharaj giving his annual address at the Durban function.
He then introduced SAIMC President, Vinesh Maharaj, who went over the Society’s exciting achievements during 2013, and of course the goals for the future. The formalities and food over, it was time for the inimitable Gee Jays who didn’t disappoint with their particular (and rather cheesy!) brand of humour and great musical skills. With the theme of the evening being ‘Braai vleis, rugby, sunny skies and chevrolets’ and songs from the same era – there were some grand strolls down memory lane and quite a few feet tapping along. It really was a great evening enjoyed by all.
