The new website has been a topic of discussion for the last few months. It has been in a state of change and adaptation to suit our daily requirements. I am now pleased to be able to announce that the basic design and layout are complete and that there should not be any more major changes, well not in the near future. All we need now is for you to visit and register as a member or visitor. It will take you five minutes so visit our website at http://saimc.net.
We can now do the following on the Web:
* Have a register of all our members and interested parties.
* Book seminars and functions.
* Read articles and participate in our SAIMC chapters.
* Rate articles.
* Vote.
* Take tests to evaluate our understanding of articles for CPD purposes.
* Get the latest weather updates.
* Participate in our lucky draws.
* Keep up to date with technical evenings and presentations if you could not make it.
* Chat via the SAIMC forum.
* Read the latest news regarding the SAIMC.
* See who members in good standing are.
* Advertise vacancies.
* Find jobs.

I must take the opportunity to thank Johan Maartens for the hours of work he has put into the SAIMC and this website.
The SAIMC Annual Banquet on 28 October at the Rand Club is fully booked except for a few single seats. We are all looking forward to this event as it truly is an annual highlight. Apart from the entertainment, the guest speaker and the social networking, we will be awarding two Negretti awards to the two best technical papers presented at our branches in the last year. This prestigious award is very sought after and fierce competition takes place annually between branches and presenters alike. This year we will have all our branch chairmen from around the country at the banquet. [Note: Depending on postage this event may have happened by the time some of you read this. More about it in the December issue.]
