It is unbelievable that a year can pass so fast. 2009 has been a year filled with challenges in many fields and I am sure everyone will agree that the economic challenge was the greatest of all. It took some time to work its way to our country and it is now here in full force and is affecting all of us both at home and in business. The challenge we all face is to keep our heads above the water and ride it out.
For the Secunda branch of the SAIMC 2009 has been a very good year. Our membership has grown, attendance at Technology evenings has increased significantly and our bank balance has remained at a comfortable level.
The Secunda branch membership is mainly made up of people working for Sasol and Eskom. We are very lucky and appreciative to have so many suppliers and other companies who have stood by us and supported us in all our projects and events. Without them we would not be able to keep our branch financially viable.
We had Johan Maartens at our last Technology evening for the year. Johan gave us a much needed talk on ECSA and the future of ECSA.
Secunda branch caterers hard at work
Our AGM will be held in January 2010 and our plea to all our members is please attend this important meeting so that we can appoint a committee which will once again work hard to keep our branch in good standing.
My thanks go to the present committee who gave more than what is expected of them during this year. It was a pleasure to work with such a team who knew exactly what was expected of them and performed the tasks assigned to them with passion. They spent many hours of their private time promoting the SAIMC and serving the members of the branch.
In conclusion I would like to wish all the members, our sponsors, friends and families a very blessed festive season. If you plan to travel during the holiday season please be careful on the roads and stay sober. Remember: 'SPEED KILLS'.
Feel free to contact me on my cell +27 (0)83 310 7925 or by e-mail at [email protected] if you have any questions which relate to the SAIMC or our branch activities.
