At our recent meeting, Radomon Measurements presented a talk on laser instrumentation. The laser presentation covered level control, volumetric scanning, conveyor belt scanning and positioning and the many technologies involved in these applications.
The presentation attracted instrumentation personnel from the Copperbelt of Zambia notably KCM Chingola and Kitwe, Mopani Mines PLC Kitwe and Mufulira, Indeni in Ndola, Chilanga Cement, Chambishi Metals PLC, Luanshya Mines and CEC. Amongst the gathering was the SAIMC branch treasurer, Rodgers Kayombo, and ex Zambia chairman, Jones Kalela.
The area in laser measurement techniques that attracted attention was the LM50SBR Conveyor Belt Scanner. The laser scanner is a non-contact conveyor belt scanner that accurately measures the volume of solids material flowing along a conveyor belt. Its multiple outputs provide flow, speed and cross-section area information.
The presentation was successful in that the people who attended were exposed to a new approach in laser techniques they can apply in their work situations. The presentation was conducted by a well experienced and trained expert in the laser measurements. The presentation ended with some snacks and drinks.
