Durban branch news

October 2007 SAIMC

At Durban branch's successful Industry Forum breakfast event held on 22 August, two professional presentations were delivered to a lively audience.

Cornu Perold presented a précis of his Dissertation on Voluntary Organisations. This was the subject of Cornu's thesis and was commissioned by the SAIMC to help the organisation understand what constrained its growth and activities. Cornu shared the results of his two-year research. Of particular interest were the action steps and new projects now planned as a result of this research.

Nico Marneweck spoke on instrument internships and the placement of graduate interns. Nico gave a fascinating insight into the reasons that Endress+Hauser are putting so much effort into the development of engineers and technicians. He openly shared the work that his company has been doing in this essential skills development area and the model that he has developed over a seven-year period.

The presentations were enthusiastically received and the branch looks forward to hosting similar events in future.
