Fluid Components, represented here by Protea Automation Solutions, has just announced that they have received ATEX approval for their ST98 range of thermal dispersion flowmeters and their FLT93 range of flow/level switches. The ATEX approval is granted by the notified body KEMA for products to be used in potentially explosive atmospheres, and bears the marking Ex II 2G Eexd IIC T4.
The ATEX approval has been granted following a successful audit of the production facilities at Fluid Controls in USA and after document review and product testing according to health and safety requirements in compliance with European directives EN50014 and EN50018.
The ST98 Flowmeter Series has no moving parts. The series simplifies mass flow metering with a single process penetration, eliminating temperature/pressure transmitters and the density calculation required with other non-mass flowmeter technologies, such as differential pressure, vortex or turbine. This means superior accuracy, response time, and repeatability. As less hardware is needed for a system, the saving in cost is considerable. In today's complex process control schemes, accurate gas flow measurement is essential for product consistency and quality, and the safe operation of process plants. Fluid Controls is a world leader in the manufacture of industrial thermal mass flowmeters/switches and level/interface switches. They are the only USA manufacturer with ATEX approval.
