TLC Software announced the launch of a new power quality recorder for recording quality of supply information. The QSR2000 system, based on TLC Software's QSR32 generation power quality recorder, is a combination of a powerful and flexible PC platform with locally developed power quality software. The system is available in fixed and portable configurations up to 64 input channels as a fixed unit and up to 16 channels as a portable unit, which covers the majority of utility and end user requirements.
The QSR2000 can be used for both fixed and portable applications. The fixed installations make use of a desktop or 19" industrial rack mount computer, digitiser card and an external voltage and current signal-conditioning interface.
In assessing the power quality at a site the system monitors and evaluates one or more of the following:
* Supply interruptions, dips and surges.
* Voltage regulation.
* Voltage, current and load unbalance.
* Voltage and current harmonics and harmonic distortion.
* Active, reactive and apparent power, and power factor.
* Energy use and maximum demand and time of use.
* Flicker and flicker emission.
* Sequence components.
* Frequency.
The QSR2000 power system monitoring software operates under the 32 bit Microsoft Windows 98 or NT operating systems. The software was developed by TLC Software in consultation with a number of users. It provides for simultaneous measurement of power quality with voltage dips and supply interruptions. A powerful, user-friendly interface provides for rapid set-up and measurement.
All the measured values are stored in a database, which permits rapid, flexible reporting of results. Once the data is acquired with the recorder it can be retrieved and analysed on an event by event basis, or as a summary which can be displayed graphically or visually. Data can also be displayed in a tabular form and if required exported for use in other application software. A number of standard reports are built into the software such as the NRS048 daily report. The user can automatically generate these reports. Data can be exported in Microsoft Excel or ASCII text format for further analysis and the reports can be cut and pasted into any MS Windows application for reporting.
A further benefit of storing the data in a database is that it allows advanced users to use third party database reporting tools such as Segate Crystal Reports to generate custom reports.
The QSR2000 is based on a PC platform. This provides a powerful, cost-effective, flexible system that can be configured for a variety of tasks. The system is easy to upgrade and since most users are already familiar with a PC, it is relatively simple to learn the functions of the system. TLC Software can customise the QSR2000 to meet specific user requirements.
