How one manufacturer gained live inventory control

November 2025 Data Acquisition & Telemetry

Everyday Technologies, based in Sidney, Ohio is a metal forming company that provides laser blanking, press brake forming, welding and powder coating to OEMs.

Challenge

Embodying the motto “Customer Success is Our Success,” the company recognised the need for a more advanced ERP system after relying on the same solution for over 15 years. “While the system performed basic functions, it was really lacking in the modern, more robust features that you get from a current system,” says Cody Lee, CEO and owner of Everyday Technologies.

The previous system, hosted on a local server, also posed several limitations. The company needed a cloud-based smart manufacturing platform that could deliver real-time insights, improve efficiency and enable them to project future needs with precision.

Solution

After evaluating other EPR systems, the company chose Plex ERP, a cloud-based solution that provided real-time access to production data, automated inventory control and forecasting capabilities. The system allowed them to project future needs with precision and manage inventory more strategically. “The cloud-based functionality of Plex, we hadn’t known anything like that existed,” says Lee. He recognised Plex as the best fit for the business.

During the implementation phase, Everyday Technologies and Plex strategically identified and set up workstations on the plant floor. These stations empowered the team to leverage the Plex control panel and streamline workflows. Employees received comprehensive training which helped familiarise them with the new system.

Result

Implementing Plex ERP transformed Everyday Technologies. Lee explains, “The number one thing we were able to do with Plex that we weren’t able to do with our old system was to have a perpetual live inventory.” Previously, inventory management was scattered across multiple spreadsheets that required manual oversight. Now, all inventory data is centralised and live within Plex. Each purchase component and manufactured item is barcoded and managed systematically in real-time.

Plex also improved the company’s workflow. With the live inventory, Everyday Technologies is able to isolate capacity at each work centre and focus only on necessary jobs and materials.

“We’ve had a lot of quick wins these last several months. There’s a lot of things we know that exist out there that the team is excited to implement,” Lee concluded.
