Sierra Wireless’ AirLink routers and mobile gateways are now available.
Trinity Telecomms has announced that the AirLink range of intelligent 3G M2M routers and mobile gateways from Sierra Wireless is now available to the South African market. Joint MD, William Hardie comments: “The AirLink range complements our existing wireless solutions by including both entry level GPRS gateways for industrial M2M applications, as well as high end HSUPA communications devices for mission-critical security and emergency service use.”
The AirLink products are a set of intelligent, rugged and industrialised 3G devices for use in mobile data and M2M applications. They are widely applied in sectors such as police and emergency services, critical infrastructure monitoring and security surveillance, and remote monitoring and automation applications like energy management.
All AirLink devices are powered by ALEOS, the sophisticated embedded intelligence platform that has evolved over 15 years of development in real world systems, including numerous mission-critical applications. ALEOS ensures a consistent, reliable connection between remotely deployed or mobile assets and the enterprise leveraging the versatility of mobile wireless networks. Coupled with the ACEware suite of remote management, configuration and control tools and applications, the AirLink product line provides the long term reliability and low total cost of ownership required for today’s mission-critical applications.
The product line consists of three core families:
* M2M gateways, – includes the AirLink Raven rugged terminals, featuring GPRS/HSUPA devices ideal for automation and control in the M2M environment.
* In-vehicle gateways and routers – includes the AirLink PinPoint and MP rugged mobile devices, specifically designed for mobile data, public safety and field services and featuring HSUPA communications and GPS functionality. Each device is also designed to meet stringent temperature, moisture and impact requirements.
* Commercial grade routers – includes the AirLink Helix, designed for 3G WAN connectivity with optional Wi-Fi. An ideal solution for wireless WAN applications such as field surveillance.
Sierra VP Jim Lahey comments, “We are pleased to be collaborating with Trinity Telecomms for the distribution and support of the AirLink product line. Together, Sierra Wireless and Trinity Telecomms can provide a comprehensive product offering and strong locally based support for customers who are looking to leverage mobile broadband for a wide range of applications.”
William Hardie adds: “The distribution agreement is in alignment with Trinity’s remote device management strategy, based on its Smart M2M platform – a universal web-based remote device monitoring and control platform. The new 3G AirLink devices are all able to connect to the Trinity Smart M2M platform, to enable clients to benefit from remote device monitoring, control and maintenance, including software ‘downloads over the air’. Our remote management solution eliminates the need for on-site support in most instances, ultimately lowering cost of ownership of the AirLink and other devices.
“The remote nature of many of our industries makes 3G networks an attractive option due to a lack of fixed line broadband infrastructure in some places. This is reinforced by the reduced cost of ownership through remote monitoring and control and the increased flexibility and mobility offered by these devices.”
