Allpronix has announced the launch of the configurable X1 electro-magnetic flowmeter. The concept is simple with the basic unit being a motherboard, power supply and integral programming keypad. The flowmeter is then custom-built to suit the user requirements thus eliminating unnecessary functionality and cost. A small plug-and-play module is fitted to the motherboard for each extra function required from the instrument.

For example, options include plug-in modules that allow for 4–20 mA, 0–10 V, frequency or a binary modules giving one digital input for batching and two digital outputs. Plug-in communication modules offer wireless Bluetooth, RS232, RS485, USB, GPRS and Ethernet TCP/IP. Other modules include a memory/data-logger with 1 MB capacity and a realtime clock. The signal from the flow tube to the transmitter is a digital signal, allowing long lengths of cable between the two units (up to 500 m). IP67 protection is a standard on the transmitters with fitting options including wall, panel or DIN Rail mounting. The meters are available with universal power supplies and a choice of linings and electrodes to suit most applications.
