Taking an intelligent look at what is inside your tank

Level Measurement & Control
All it takes for petrol stations to measure the level of petrol in a tank accurately is the kind of intelligence built into the head of every Optilevel tank gauging system from Liquid Automation Systems.
Thanks to a microprocessor inside the head of the Optilevel probe, liquid level data is derived from the primary physical measurements. The system then calculates the tank volume based on this data either externally or by comparison with a calibration table stored in the processor electronics (capacitive comparison method.) The result is that low-cost external controllers can be used. The Optilevel probe can also be interfaced to a PC or fuel island terminal.
The Optilevel's HLS sensor's advanced technological design ensures that measurements are not affected by properties such as density or dielectric constant, electric resistance, additives, dirt deposits, submersible pumps, foam, vapour, sediment or surface turbulence. The electronics are located in the probe's head so that it can be exchanged in minutes without having to remove the probe. It can also be done during filling.
Optilevel offers many possible configurations to form an economical system: from low-cost Optilevel displays to high-performance Optilevel controllers 104, from direct modem or fuel terminal connections to certified EPSI and IFSF-LON standard interfaces. In fact, Optilevel is the first gauging system worldwide to comply with the latter standard (International Forecourt Standard Forum LON).
The compact Sensor head is tight and remains fully functional even if the tank containment sumps are permanently flooded. Because the system does not have any sensitive mechanical parts that can bend, floats than can become clogged or electronics that are located in the tank, it is robust.

Level measurement of an acid dosing tank at a WWTP
Level Measurement & Control
Ferric chloride and other acids are essential chemical substances in water and wastewater treatment. To control the dosing of acid solutions, an Australian wastewater treatment plant uses a special container to store, mix and add these chemicals. The company opted in favour of KROHNE’s OPTIWAVE 1540 radar level transmitter

Level measurement of leachate from sewage sludge humification
Level Measurement & Control
A municipal utility in eastern Germany operates a state-of-the-art wastewater treatment plant with sustainable sludge treatment. The ultrasonic signal was being partially deflected by the wind, leading to frequent false measurements and inefficient process workflows. The problem was solved by replaced the ultrasonic level sensor with KROHNE’s OPTIWAVE 1540 non-contact radar.
