Level control for fly-ash applications

Drexelbrook claims that its RF switch is the only model available that users will not need to calibrate.
Bill Honey, MD of local distributor Pinnacle Instruments, elaborates: "Simply install the IntelliPoint RF series into the tank and apply power, that is it. The device reliably detects the absence or presence of material without any adjustments. The system software continuously monitors the application for changes in composition, dielectric or conductivity, and maintains a repeatable trip point on the probe."
Since the IntelliPoint RF series recognises changes in material, it is well suited for non-dedicated tanks that are used for a wide variety of products.
"The mean time to failure (MTTF) has been calculated to more than 110 years," says Honey. "The device has a universal power supply unit and automatically detects input power source. No additional cabling is required to power-up the unit."
The universal Intellipoint electronics can also be coupled to various sensing elements such as the standard sensing element for high-low level switching, the block chute detector and also the fly-ash level detector.
Honey continues: "The Drexelbrook block chute detector promises to virtually eliminate downtime and material spill. Furthermore, it requires no maintenance due to the indestructible design and there are no moving parts to wear and jam. The cote shield technology circuitry ignores even heavy coatings on the sensor and there are no regulatory requirements. The flush mount-sensing element does not interfere with material flow. The electronics can also be remotely mounted to eliminate vibration concerns and for easy accessibility."
He concludes: "The Drexelbrook fly-ash level detector provides an excellent solution to fly-ash measurement. There are no regulatory requirements or source disposal problems as with nuclear switches. The RF switches can also be remote mounted to allow the electronic unit to be placed in a low temperature, convenient location. Products such as the Intellipoint have driven shield circuitry which allows the sensor to ignore even heavy, sticky coatings left by the fly-ash."

Level measurement of an acid dosing tank at a WWTP
Level Measurement & Control
Ferric chloride and other acids are essential chemical substances in water and wastewater treatment. To control the dosing of acid solutions, an Australian wastewater treatment plant uses a special container to store, mix and add these chemicals. The company opted in favour of KROHNE’s OPTIWAVE 1540 radar level transmitter

Level measurement in oil storage
VEGA Controls SA
Level Measurement & Control
Measuring the level of crude oil in storage is essential for safe and efficient operations. VEGA offers solutions that effectively address the challenges, ensuring precise and consistent level measurements in crude oil storage facilities. VEGA’s sensors offer reliable data on the volume, level and pressure of all types of media. Accurate level measurement is complicated by crude oil thermal expansion properties, particularly in lighter oil grades.
