Variable air amplifiers deliver high volume and velocity air stream

August 2006 Pneumatics & Hydraulics

The new air amplifiers from Spraying Systems deliver a targeted high volume, high velocity amplified air stream. Along with compressed air, additional free air is pulled through the unit, resulting in maximum air amplification which is ideal for fast drying and blow off applications. This product is also ideal to ventilate confined areas, expel exhaust tank fumes and vent smoke because of the vacuum effect that is created. The units are easy to install and contain no moving parts which results in maintenance free service. The amplifier meets all OSHA pressure and noise requirements. The units are available in aluminium or 316 stainless. Inlet connection diameters of 1/8" (3,2 mm), 1/4" (6,4 mm), 3/8" (9,5 mm) and 1/2" (12,7 mm) and outlet diameters of 3/4" (19,1 mm), 11/4" (31,8 mm), 2" (50,8 mm) and 4" (101,6 mm) are available.

An example of the type of performance that can be achieved is that for the 1/4" (6,35 mm) unit, the air consumption at the inlet is 370 N /min @ 550 kPa (5,5 bar) and the amplification ratio is 16 times which gives an air volume at the outlet of 5920 N /min.
