Simple flow verification

Flow Measurement & Control
Flow is a difficult measurement to verify. It usually means the insertion of a master flowmeter, or the removal of a flowmeter to be sent away to a flow laboratory. An old technology is making a comeback, partially because of simple verification. That is the target meter.
Some of the grey-heads may have negative feelings about target meters, but with modern fabrication methods eliminating seals, reliability is now very high. The great thing about the target meter is that it measures force, and that force can be simulated by a suitable weight.
Target meters have a couple of other advantages. One is response speed. Another is the ability to re-range the meter by changing targets, very useful in seasonal applications. When next faced with a flow measurement that requires regular verification, consider a target meter.
