The Linax A310 Videographic Recorder has on-board flash memory for secure archiving of process data without the need for battery back-up. There are 12 recording channels and up to 12 universal analog inputs: thermocouples, RTD, mA, mV, and volts - which can be viewed in a variety of display formats such as chart, bargraph, digital indicator and process summary. Historical logs are provided for recording up to 24 process alarms or four realtime alarms, operator and system events and totaliser values.
Either smart media or compact flash removable memory card can be used for archiving purposes. The solid-state nature of these devices ensures that the A310 can operate in ambient temperatures of up to 50°C, whereas traditional electro-mechanical floppy disk drives only operate in temperatures up to 40°C.
An encrypted 'fingerprint' is created for each archive that is sorted to ensure full security proving the validity of the data. The large capacity of the storage media used on the A310 ensures that the need to transfer data to a PC on a regular basis is greatly reduced. With older floppy disk technology storage capabilities are limited, sometimes to levels below the ability of traditional paper recorders.
The A310 provides 10 BaseT Ethernet communications via standard RJ45 connector and uses industry standard protocols TCP/IP, FTP and HTTP to ensure connectivity to existing PC networks. The simple Windows-style pop-up menu and configuration screens make operation of the A310 instantly familiar. The configuration mode is protected via a user-specific password system. The 144 x 144 mm Linax A310 offers protection ratings of IP66 and NEMA4X and includes a fully sealed lockable media door.
The recorder can be installed in areas that require frequent hose down and due to its industrial standard noise emission and immunity protection, can operate effectively in high electrical noise environments. Applications include water treatment plants, cold storage, stack gas monitoring, autoclaves, food and beverage processing, heat treatment and pulp and paper.
