Compact current and voltage transducers

June 2004 Sensors & Transducers

The reliable Rishducer range of current and voltage transducers are available in DIN rail or panel mount units and are only 35 mm wide. The range consists of standard self-powered types with single or dual measuring range inputs or true RMS transducers with auxiliary supply AC or universal supply AC/DC. The True RMS units convert a sine wave or distorted AC current/voltage into a proportional DC output signal. (This means that even if the input waveform is distorted, the conversion takes into account the distortion).

Conforming to international standards IEC 688 for accuracy (class 0,5 and 0,2 depending on model), the transducers offer a high load capacity of 750 Ω at 20 mA. Response time is under 300 ms with optimal 50 ms.

Other features include insulation strength of 3,7 kV, and able to withstand an impulse voltage of 5 kV between all transducer connections. Inputs and outputs are short circuit and open circuit protected, and there is an option of SMPS supply to accommodate a wide range of AC/DC supply rails. Connection is via terminals (as preferred by electricians) - multistrand or solid wire. A large space has been allowed for looping wires. The housing is fabricated from a self-extinguishing polycarbonate moulding.
