Ten-metre ultrasonic level transmitter

The Sumpi ultrasonic level transmitter is capable of measuring liquid and solid levels up to 10 metres. The transmitter consists of an integral keypad, five-key keypad and two line alphanumeric LCD display. This is housed in a polycarbonate enclosure rated to IP65 protection. A foam face KAB10F transducer allows the unit to measure solids up to 10 metres, the polyurethane face KAB10 allows the unit to measure liquids up to 10 metres, and the flanged PTFE lined transducer allows the unit to measure aggressive liquids, such as acid, up to 10 metres range.
All the transducers are available with optional temperature compensation. The unit has an analog 4 to 20 mA signal output, which can be used for continuous level measurement, and two programmable relay alarms, which can be used for point level switching, pump control or alarms. The unit is available with 24 V d.c. or 110/220 V a.c. supply.
Set-up of the instrument is very easy: the Sumpi asks a few simple questions on the alphanumeric LCD display, and the user enters the information on the keypad. The unit can display metres, feet, percentage or any abbreviated engineering units. KABScope cable and software allow the Sumpi to be connected to a laptop. This allows the user to program the unit, and can also be used for diagnostics, the results of which can then be e-mailed to KAB Instruments for analysis.
