The branch held its 2014 AGM on 6 February at the Eskom Marketing Centre in Edgemead. The meeting met the constitutional requirements for a quorum, and was therefore declared as constitutional. A resolution was passed that the 2013 committee members continue to serve in 2014, to create continuity and build capacity at the branch. This resolution was passed unanimously, but Juandre Whon, vice chairman in 2013, indicated that he would not be able to serve another term due to work commitments outside the province. Therefore, the following members will continue to serve in the 2014 SAIMC Cape Town branch committee:
* Mothibi Thabeng.
* Felix Dolo.
* Mrs Shakira Nursoo.
* Selvan Murugan.
The chairman encouraged members to participate in the committee, and for those who are interested to volunteer for co-option as committee members. This is to increase the capacity of the committee and build critical mass. The chairman also informed the members about the current projects that the SAIMC council has undertaken to further the SAIMC.
The committee co-opted Maclean Mguti, who was welcomed by the chairman and wished well in his service of the branch.
The committee held its first meeting on 20 February, where the branch plans and strategies for 2014 were discussed.
