SAIMC members within the copperbelt hosted Thermo Fisher Scientific SA on 11 October. The presenter was Wessels Erick and his presentation was about conveyor belt scales. This was back to basics stuff where he explained the principle of operation and gave examples of where and how they are used and applied. In attendance, we had instrumentation personnel from the mining industry, students and lecturers from colleges within the copper belt region of Zambia.
In his closing remarks, branch chairman, Rodgers Kayombo, acknowledged and thanked Thermo Fisher for a wonderful, exciting and educative technical presentation. In addition, he extended his gratitude to SAIMC members and all those who were in attendance for the overwhelming turnout. There were 74 attendees, which showed that people have the desire for such technical presentations in order not to miss out on the technology advancements evolving around the globe.
The Zambia branch plans to host more such successful technical presentations in the future. This will assist to grow our membership numbers and expose our local instrumentation personnel to new technology.
