The Annual General Meeting of the Cape Town Branch of the South African Institute of Measurement and Control (SAIMC) will be held at the Milnerton Caltex Refinery (using the South Gate entry off Plattekloof Road) on Thursday 8 May 2008 at 18h30 sharp.
(Note that you will be required to present your identity book or passport as identification to enter the premises, which is a requirement by the security officials. They will also be given a members list with your details on it as a check list.)
Agenda – to read the Notice calling the meeting, to receive apologies for non-attendance, reading of proxy nominations received, to adopt the Branch Financial Report for the year ended 31 December 2007, to receive the president’s address, reading of Committee nominations received and ratified by Council, to confirm nomination of the personnel on the Committee for 2008, to Introduce the new chairman of the Cape Town Branch.
General Business – present the SAIMC Events Calendar for 2008/2009, including the planned Cape Town events. For those in attendance at the AGM, to indicate their preference for where future meetings are to be held, to benefit as many as possible, taking into account where members work and where members live. Three possible locations are to be considered: the general Milnerton area; Bellville/Monte Vista area; or the Pinelands area. The intent is that the new committee identify a suitable clubhouse that the Cape Town Branch can hire, such as that belonging to a tennis club, bowling club or similar sports club providing sufficient space to hold meetings, to network, to do presentations and to cater refreshments to the members. It will be put to the vote of those present if there is no general consensus, and the majority vote will rule. President’s vote is a casting vote in the event of the result being split 50:50. Thereafter action on any other business arising.
The opportunity to mingle and network will be given afterwards to meet the President of the SAIMC and the new Cape Town Branch Committee members whilst enjoying some snacks and refreshments.
Please RSVP to [email protected] so that we can ensure there is sufficient catering provided.
