The SAIMC will host the 2026 International INSPIRE Conference in Johannesburg this October, incorporating the RobMech and PRASA conferences.
Held under the theme ‘Next-Gen Innovation: Intelligent Solutions for a Smart Manufacturing, Mining, and Industrial Future’, the interdisciplinary summit for progress, innovation, research and excellence will bring together industry and academic stakeholders from across the smart mining, manufacturing and related sectors.
Platform for smart mining and manufacturing
The upcoming summit offers vendors in the smart mining, manufacturing and related sectors a prime platform to showcase their solutions and gain industry visibility. It highlights the growing role of robotics and automation, aligning with leading initiatives, such as RobMech and PRASA, that are shaping South Africa’s advanced manufacturing landscape.
This year’s proceedings will include multiple streams, including industry case studies, thought leadership and academic peer-reviewed research presentations.
Focused on knowledge sharing, the event aims to strengthen the country’s smart mining and manufacturing community. Industry and academic members will present research, case studies and success stories that inspire discussion, encourage questions and promote collaboration across traditional operations, robotics and intelligent systems.
Technical presentations
Vendors can showcase their products and services and share thought leadership, but sales pitches are not allowed. Presentations should contribute to smart mining, manufacturing, and robotics in South Africa.
Participation is a chance to network with industry leaders, build business relationships, and connect with the robotics and automation community through RobMech and PRASA.
Call for abstracts
A call has been issued for presentation proposals, and a prize will be awarded for the best presentation. Abstracts are invited on topics such as:
• Case studies and success stories (feasibility studies, implementations, ROI, achievements)
• R&D; developments and emerging trends in smart manufacturing and mining
• Operational excellence and innovation in manufacturing and mining
• How global political, trade and economic shifts are impacting business and the actions taken
• Any topic aligned with the summit theme.

• Manufacturing 4.0 and sustainable digital transformation
• Building adaptive and innovative supply chains

Deadline for abstracts: 14 August 2026
Abstract length: 100–200 words, including 2–3 key takeaways
Notification of acceptance: End of August 2026
Final presentation due: 12 September 2026
Presentation duration: 15 minutes, plus five minutes Q&A
Additional requirements: Short bio and high-resolution headshot photo (300dpi for print)
All submissions will be reviewed by the SAIMC User Advisory Council Executive Committee for relevance and alignment with the summit theme.
All approved presenters may attend on the day of their presentation at no charge. If an additional day is attended, a discounted rate will be offered.
