Electron commissions Rand Water plant

March 2003 News Access Control & Identity Management

Electron Technologies is poised to commission the System 1 & 2 Batch Silica Activation and Dosing Plant at Rand Water's Zuikerbosch pumping station, near Vereeniging, which incorporates a motor control centre (MCC) designed, manufactured and installed by Electron.

Supply of the PLC panels and plant automation as well as the complete electrical installation was also part of Electron's brief. Michael Mbele of Roymec Technologies, the process technology company appointed to design and manage the Zuikerbosch project, says the electrical sub-contract awarded to Electron was based on reward. The batch silica activation and dosing plant will be used to produce activated silica used as a primary coagulant aid in the treatment of raw water at the Zuikerbosch pumping station.

Electron Technologies' four business units - Electron IT, Electron Construction, Electron Projects and Electron Switchboards - provide in-house turnkey EC & I system integration by combining innovation with extensive experience in project management, design, manufacturing, installation and commissioning. Customised services are also available as required.

Electron is SABS ISO 9002 listed with products conforming to SABS IEC 439 standards. Areas serviced include Africa, the Middle East and South America.
