Dual-channel opacity/dust concentration monitor

The D-R281 AV from Durag, is a visible emission monitor opacity meter and/or dust concentration meter. It has been specifically designed to continuously detect both opacity and optical density levels of effluent particulate from industrial and commercial ducts or stacks.

Utilising a digital operation and the auto collimation principle, the monitor provides analog outputs for opacity and optical density and dual channel capability. Automatic and manual zero and span calibration and correction for dirt accumulation on windows is included, as well as a modulated light beam to eliminate interference. Its double pass optical system provides accuracy and sensitivity, and automatic correction for stack exit diameter is available.

The heated window protects the lenses and prevents condensation, while large purge air blowers overcome at least 375 mm H2O positive flue gas pressure with the large capacity automotive filter system.

A microprocessor-based remote digital display with multirange capability and excess alarms with adjustable set points on remote control lines are included. Control room indication is given for blower failure, filter blockage, excessive window and alphanumeric readout of system faults. The lamp life is greater than 20 000 h and five selectable ranges for both opacity and optical density are available. If required, safety shutters for high temperature and harmful effluents may be ordered. The monitor is US EPA compliant.
