Keeping the process cool and running

December 2002 News

No business can survive on product alone, those that concentrate equally on the people side of the business will fare better in the long run. Instrumentation specialist Endress+Hauser is well aware of this fact and strives to not only offer customers exceptional service levels, but to also get actively involved in communities where high concentrations of work are undertaken.

On the last weekend of July Endress+Hauser, true to fashion, was out in force manning the second watering point on the Vodacom Phosphate 21 km half marathon held in Namakgale, outside Phalaborwa. This popular annual event also sponsored by Foskor, offered Endress+Hauser the opportunity to give back to the community and offer support to Foskor - a major client and the largest, single production facility of phosphoric acid-based products in the southern hemisphere.

Event organisers positioned watering points at three kilometre intervals along the route. Endress+Hauser took charge of the watering point at the 6 km mark and almost instantly were swamped by exhausted and dehydrated runners, struggling in the heat. In true cool fashion, Endress+Hauser radioed the organisers and received more refreshments to cope with the volume of runners needing replenishment. Last year's winners, Abner Chipu and Elana Meyer, won the event again this year.

Although this is the first time that Endress+Hauser has been involved in the marathon, the company annually sponsors the 'Phalaborwa Braai' for all the clients, and their families, that it services in the region. Endress+Hauser supply a large range of level devices, namely ultrasonic and radar gauges, to Foskor, as well as pressure transmitters and flow measuring devices.
