Compact board for test development engineer training

October 2002 Training & Education

JTAG Technologies, a leading provider of boundary-scan test tools for electronics designers and manufacturers, has announced the release this month of a specially developed circuit board and accompanying training materials.

The JT 2153 training kit allows new users of boundary-scan technology to become rapidly familiar with all aspects of boundary-scan test technology and associated applications.

Prepared examples cover scan-path infrastructure testing, device interconnect testing, memory-cluster testing, plus in-system programming (ISP) of flashes and CPLDs. Users are shown how these tests are developed and also how they may be combined to form a comprehensive test and ISP sequence within the AEX test executive program. The compact board also includes PLDs compliant to the emerging IEEE 1532 standard, a new universal ISP protocol and data format for programmable devices supported by Altera, Cypress, Lattice and Xilinx.

The comprehensive training manual includes background information on boundary-scan applications and step-by-step test development guides. Advanced topics such as 'fault coverage examination', and use of JTAG's Visualizer design view tools are also covered.

JTAG Technologies, with corporate headquarters in Eindhoven, The Netherlands, is a global leader in innovative boundary-scan (IEEE Standard 1149.x) products. The company offers a broad line of software tools and hardware, supporting test preparation, test execution, test result analysis and in-system programming applications. With an installed base of over 3000 systems worldwide, JTAG Technologies serves a wide variety of electronics manufacturers including the communications, medical electronics, avionics, automotive, and consumer industries.

Spescom MeasureGraph Test Systems, leading provider of test and measurement products and systems in southern Africa, is the sole distributor of JTAG Technologies products.
