The design of the new pressure transmitter from Danfoss offers a higher level of accuracy in pressure measurement while at the same time preventing damage from pressure surges or 'liquid hammer". The range features low thermal drift on zero point and span, excellent resistance to vibration and shock, EMC protection, high IP classification, acid-proof and stainless steel (AISI 316L) construction.
Pressure transmitters installed with valves or pumps are often subjected to pressure surges or 'liquid hammer', damaging the transmitter or producing unreliable measurements. Danfoss has developed a range of transmitters which, regardless of the impacts, give accurate and reliable measurement without recalibration or adjustment. The piezo-resistive silicon technology used has made the transmitters capable of withstanding an excess pressure of 10 to 20 times the measuring range.
The unit is fitted with a nozzle to prevent cavitation at the diaphragm. The nozzle is not intended to protect against pressure peaks, it prevents the development of gas pockets, which cause pressure peaks. The nozzle is large enough so as not to substantially increase the total time constant of the device when operating with substances having normal viscosities.
The device is suitable for systems operating with liquid at any given flowrate, where the measuring point is located near a valve or a pump. It is well suited for hydraulic systems with high pressure and fast actuators. Various pressure connections and measuring ranges can be ordered and adapters can be used if required.
