PC-based automation solutions pass tough QA

September 2002 News

Advantech has expanded its operation during the past 18 years from a single office in California USA to an extensive operation in America, Europe, South Asia Pacific, Japan, China and Taiwan. The company's wide range of PC-based industrial and laboratory automation products include: panel PCs, industrial PC chassis, single board computers, plug-in data acquisition and control cards and remote data acquisition devices.

To ensure product quality, extensive environmental tests are conducted through its in-house quality assurance lab. The lab has advanced testing equipment to perform the most common environmental tests. After passing the tests, the product is then passed to a recognised third party laboratory for final approval. Over 500 documents detailing quality policies and operating instructions have been implemented as part of its ISO 9001 certified QA system.

Only after a newly developed product has met all design requirements and pre-production tests, does it go into production. During manufacturing, the products undergo further rigorous quality assurance testing to ensure that quality products are delivered to the customers.

Advantech believes that Web technology will dominate the factory floor as has happened in offices and homes. "The Ethernet will become the most popular standard of industrial fieldbus. Lots of front-end devices will be equipped with embedded CPU and Web browser functions." Advantech Automation has set itself the goal of providing Web-enabled automation solutions for the factory floor with the aim of being a world-leader in providing eAutomation products. Advantech is represented locally by ProMicro.
