WIKA's range of head-mounted transmitters has an interesting new addition: The PR 5350, manufactured by PR Electronics, is said to be the first transmitter in the world to feature two bus protocols. The new PRetop 5350 transmitter integrates both Profibus PA protocol and Foundation Fieldbus protocol.
Shifts between the two protocols take place automatically via a unique switching principle (patent is pending). The PR5350 is intended for temperature measurement with both Pt100 and thermocouple sensors and for linear resistance, potentiometer and bipolar mV measurement. All functions can be set up easily and quickly via a PC program based on bus communication. The transmitter is also the first DIN form B sensor head mounted transmitter with Foundation Fieldbus on the market, and thus a considerably cost-effective solution.
The new transmitter complies with internationally recognised standards such as CE, ATEX, UL, CSA, FM & FISCO and is suitable for worldwide use. These standards allow installation of the module in hazardous areas (Ex zone 0, 1 & 2) and nonhazardous areas. The temperature transmitter is also available in a DIN rail housing with 1 or 2 channels. As is the case with all PR products, the PRetop 5350 is manufactured according to ISO 9001 and covered by a 5-year product guarantee.
