SITRAIN course registration now online

In order to make SITRAIN course information more readily accessible and facilitate the booking of training courses, Siemens Automation & Drives (A&D) division has placed the entire process on line.
Des Burrows, A&D service and support manager, says the SITRAIN online booking system, available on the main Siemens website, is currently in testing phase and scheduled to go live towards the end of August.
"Accessed through the Siemens website at www.siemens.co.za/sitrain - the page will include a variety of information such as course content, prerequisites, dates, times and price," says Burrows. "A flow diagram guides the visitor through the entire process, from registration and course schedules to online booking and confirmation. This website will not only make the gathering of information much more convenient, but will also make the booking process a lot easier."
According to Burrows, the training centre - started 18 years ago as part of the service division - focuses on the totally integration automation (TIA) strategy between products and applications. "The courseware provided supports the TIA strategy by providing complete product knowledge training but with added application training," he continued. "This way, the delegate not only understands how the product works, but also how it integrates and functions with other products within the application, its compatibility with other products as well as other purposes the product could be used for."
Burrows added that SITRAIN training is available at the company's offices in Midrand or can be conducted on-site at the customer's premises. Course material originates in Germany, but is tailored to local requirements. "Seven full-time lecturing staff provides the perfect blend of skills and experience. Four of them have a technical education background while the other three are from the industry, where they have had plenty of 'hands-on' experience of the products and their applications," he concluded.
