Restructuring of Honeywell's industrial division

April 2000 News

Honeywell Southern Africa has restructured its industrial business divisions to create a single and more integrated Industrial Solutions Division (ISD) under the guidance of Stefan Oberholtzer. “This has been done in order to facilitate a more cost-effective and streamlined organisation, which will continue to deliver value to customers. Our new business model is also in-line with that adopted by Honeywell’s merger partner, Allied Signal, with the main aim of achieving business excellence by applying the principles of six-sigma,” states Stefan Oberholtzer, General Manager of the new Industrial Solutions Division.

ISD now incorporates the capabilities and synergies of Honeywell’s Systems Division, Honeywell Hi-Spec Solutions, Honeywell Safety Management Systems and Honeywell’s Maintenance, Repair and Support infrastructure. Although each unit will still remain in its existing geographic location, the focus and aim of the division is to provide customers with a single, integrated solution to wide ranging industrial safety and control needs.

“Greater unity will mean enhanced service levels to our customers and focussed efforts on increasing value added services rather than just reducing costs,” states Oberholtzer. Implemented in September 1999, the new division also means greater synergies in the joint development of resources and the sharing of these resources and systems.
