A noncontact food thermometer system, called Vanguard, is on offer from Protea Automation Solutions. Designed and manufactured by Land, one of the leading specialists in infrared temperature measurement applications, this system was developed after extensive trials, to reduce product waste and streamline the transfer of packaged food products.

Vanguard provides a fast, accurate means of checking that food temperatures have been maintained through the distribution chain and are within the limits set by food safety legislation.

The temperature measurement process is completely nonintrusive. Produce is simply placed on the sapphire window in the top of the stainless steel enclosure. The operator presses a button and the product temperature is displayed within seconds. Vanguard integrates with existing temperature check and quality procedures.
