Programmable four-wire temperature transmitter for RTD and TC inputs

April 2000 Temperature Measurement

The new Sineax V624 programmable temperature transmitter measures temperature in combination with thermocouples or resistance thermometers with two, three or four-wire connection.

The analog output signal is either an impressed current or superimposed voltage which is linearly proportional to temperature and can be processed by other devices to display, record and/or regulate a constant.

The input variable and measuring ranges are programmed via a PC with or without power supply connection, which simplifies field commissioning. Measuring ranges of temperature with RTD is -200 to 850°C. Thermocouples accepted are Types B, E, J, K, N, R, S, L, U, W5 and W3. Thermocouple nonlinearities are automatically compensated. The sensor circuit is monitored for open and short-circuits and the output responds in a defined manner if detected. There is galvanic isolation between input and output.

The V624 is available in an intrinsically safe version which can be programmed on site supplementary Ex interface is required.

The power supply can be anything in the range 85–230 V a.c./d.c. and the housing measures 17,5 mm wide, making the device suitable for compact space requirements. Mounting is top-hat rail.
