DLM acquires Petrovend agency

May 2002 News

OPW Fuelling Components, a Dover Resources Company, has awarded DLM the southern African rights for the Petrovend range of automated fuel management systems.

"Consistent product quality, ongoing innovation and a commitment to total customer satisfaction are the cornerstones of OPW's philosophy," says Dick van der Winden, general manager of OPW Europe. "We have carefully evaluated DLM and are convinced that with its excellent solutions and engineering capability, DLM will be a suitable partner to provide fuel management solutions throughout southern Africa."

It is conservatively estimated that in southern Africa losses of up to 30% can occur at uncontrolled fuelling sites. The Petrovend System, which is suitable for any site where large numbers of vehicles are fuelled, will provide fleet managers of sugar mills, transport companies, mining operations, car hire companies, etc with the security and peace of mind of knowing where their fuel is going.

The Petrovend K800 fleet fuelling automation system consists of FITs (Fuel Island Terminals), up to four reporting to a FSC (Fuel Site Controller). The FIT is usually situated on the fuel island and is equipped with a keypad, LCD display and a chip key (card) reader. Certain parameters can be set within the K800 system to increase control and therefore eliminate losses by prompting the user for information regarding pin number, odometer reading, pump selection and vehicle identification.

The Phoenix for Windows software makes available, features like backup and restore, terminal emulation and on-demand transaction polling as well as powerful data management and communications software. Most data can be exported to third party database, spreadsheet and fleet maintenance programs for further processing. To complete the automation system a Site Sentinal (advanced tank and pipeline monitoring) is offered. Inventory reports include product and water levels, product temperature, gross tank volume and ullage.

Barry Bamberger, DLM's managing director, comments: "Our Flow Division has extensive experience in the petroleum industry, in particular trade metrology and safety requirements. The Petrovend range is therefore a perfect fit and we look forward to assisting an even broader base of customers with their fuel management and dispensing requirements."
