Single chip flash disk

March 2002 Maintenance, Test & Measurement, Calibration

The PCD-2000 DiskOnChip from Advantech is a new generation high-performance single-chip flash disk in a standard 32-pin DIP package. This data storage solution offers a better, faster and more cost-effective flash disk for single board embedded systems, Internet devices and portable applications with limited space and modest disk capacity requirements.

With an 8-288 MB capacity, the module provides a 32-pin DIP JEDEC standard SRAM/EPROM/FLASH compatible package. The built-in TrueFFS provides full hard disk read/write compatibility, and the module operates with Flite (FAT-FTL/Lite) in environments without operating systems.

The module is essentially a flash disk, which does not require any bus, slot or connector. By inserting the DiskOnChip into a 32-pin socket on a CPU board, and with minimal installation cost, the flash disk becomes bootable. The small, fully functional, plug-and-play flash disk is easy to integrate with very low power consumption.
