Servers in ISDN application

Advantech's IPC-602 servers are being used successfully to facilitate next-generation communication systems around the world. Bull Information Systems, one of the largest IS companies in France, was in the market for a server, particularly suitable for intensive bandwidth transmissions. The company finds the Advantech IPC-602, a 2U six-slot rack mount IPC chassis, to be the ideal machine for its ISDN network. The comprehensive functionality of the IPC-602, coupled with the reliability of a Linux-based platform, provides the stable operating environment important to the high volume front-end application requirements of an ISDN network.

Allowing for expansion on demand, the IPC-602 offers installation of three dual-port PRI ISDN adapter cards providing up to six PRI ports per unit. With 23 B channels per PRI line, up to 138 64 Kbps channels can be obtained per unit. In their application as remote access servers, IPC-602s perform call processing and bandwidth management tasks as part of their ISP ISDN service. The remote access servers are easily integrated with various back-end servers to form a comprehensive hardware infrastructure. The IPC-602s support critical system interface with remote users over a PSTN system and ensure reliable connection management and bandwidth assignment.
