Rhomberg is to introduce a nationwide on-site calibration service for pressure instruments and ranges. As one of only five SANAS accredited laboratories in the country - and the only one in the Western Cape - Rhomberg's calibration division is headed up by Paul Tredoux, the Quality Manager, who has 22 years of experience in the pressure gauge industry. He has been in charge of Rhomberg's current laboratory for 12 years.

"Due to the implementation of quality systems installed having to comply with ISA 9000 requirements, it is obligatory to provide calibrations traceable to national measuring standards to the industry," says Tredoux. "Rhomberg's accredited pressure laboratory on our premises in Cape Town is fully equipped to provide a calibration service to the industry for the vast majority of pressure instruments and ranges. Our staff is fully trained and hold SANAS issued Certificates of Competence. The laboratory is subjected to regular assessments by SANAS in order to maintain the internationally recognised accreditation, which we have held since 1991."
The calibration facility encompasses - but is not limited to - the following:
* Test gauges to an accuracy of % full scale (FS).
* Pressure ranging from 1250 Pa to 120 MPa.
* Pressure up to 330 MPa-standard calibration.
* Best measurement capabilities of 0,05%.
* On-site calibration up to 60 MPa.
* Repairs carried out by Rhomberg technicians.
* Oil-free calibration on gauges where required.
* Personal service.
"I have long realised that there is a need among our existing clients for this kind of service," says Tredoux. "And we are confident we will be able to attract new customers because of the time-efficient on-site calibration. We have developed highly accurate portable test-equipment and are able to offer a calibration package which includes all data relevant to the instruments calibrated, either on disk or hard copy, whatever suits the client best."
Current clients, among them Engen, Mossgas, Sapref, Caltex and Consani, have already expressed interest in the service.
