In 2015, InterCal moved into its own premises in Midrand. The 600 square metre building was custom designed to suit the administration and technical requirements of the seven SANAS accredited ISO17025 calibration laboratories maintained by the company. The layout of the new building is conducive to a smoother work flow and the increase in efficiency has allowed InterCal to improve the scope of its accreditation. Highlights of these improvements include an increase of the maximum mass capability to 600 kg in the mass laboratory, and a new temperature range of -80 to 1450°C in the temperature laboratory. In addition the RF and Time & Frequency laboratories are now operating in the 40 GHz range.
InterCal is proactive in keeping up with the calibration requirements of industry and has plans to expand the facility into at least three more fields of accreditation in the coming months. Clients are encouraged to subscribe to the InterCal newsletter for updates on these expansions.
