Sensor for temperatures up to 250°C

In the past, Jumo’s platinum SMD chip temperature sensors have operated at maximum temperatures of 150°C. New design features, combined with innovative technology for producing all-round solder contacts, allows the new Jumo SMD 0805 to be used at higher temperatures up to 250°C.
This means significantly improved performance and reliability with an almost unlimited storage life.
In the new SMD 0805, an annealed high-temperature glass layer covers the platinum structure of the measuring shunt. The sensor has optimum protection against environmental influences and is stable up to temperatures of 250°C for use in applications such as heaters, infrared radiators or for calorimetric measurements.
The all-round contact consists of a high purity nickel gold sandwich layer, which is produced using a process developed in-house at Jumo. Reflow soldering is possible with lead-free SAC solder and also with solder that has a high lead content. The result is the capacity to be used in an extended temperature range of -70 to 250°C. The excellent quality of the metal layers – completely free of phosphorous and other impunities – allow clean inter-metallic phases to form during soldering. Other joining techniques such as conductive adhesion can also be used.
