Dynamic on-board weighing systems

November 2001 Maintenance, Test & Measurement, Calibration

Autotech Weighing Systems, an expert in in-motion train weighing systems in South Africa has recently signed an agency agreement with Tamtron, a leading manufacturer and supplier of dynamic weighing equipment worldwide.

The on-board weighing electronics enables accurate weighing during loading. Weighing is virtually dynamic which allows for the operation of the weighing system under normal operating conditions. The weighing electronics are installed in the vehicle cabin. A large, fully graphic LCD shows weighing results with relevant information such as customer, material, truck and trailer registration, operator ID, etc. All information, freely chosen by the vehicle operator, is memorised and individually linked to the corresponding weighing data in the scales memory log.

Weighing reports can either be printed out immediately after a weighing operation or stored in the scale's memory. The user can print daily, weekly, monthly or yearly reports or summarise reports by defined customer or material type as selected.

Depending on the model of instrumentation used, weighing data can either be printed on an on-board ticket or tape printer, downloaded from the scale memory log onto a memory card, that can later be inserted into a memory card reader interfaced with an office PC. It also provides for modern wireless data transfer through GSM and radio. After each completed weighing, weight data is transferred to an office PC for printing of delivery notes and invoicing.

Tamtron's state-of-the-art on-board weighing systems offer more than any other on-board weighing systems currently on the market, as they utilise intelligent software that enables weighing to take place dynamically during driving and lifting. The scale compensates for variation in travelling speed and unevenness of the ground, resulting in a high efficiency of loading and weighing at the same time.

Tamtron on-board weighing systems are designed for a variety of industrial and mining applications. On-board weighing systems can be fitted to front-end loaders, forklifts, scrap metal cranes, dump trucks, log loaders, haul trucks, etc.
