Protection for low and medium voltage motors

July 2015 Sensors & Transducers

NewElec’s 320 – 327 M Series motor protection relays are designed for protecting low and medium voltage motors. The relays have a user-friendly interface, high accuracy, reliability and a fast acting thermal trip curve, making them suitable for all motor applications and especially for motors working at or near full loads. Motors driving crushers, ball mills or high inertia loads especially with long run-up starting times are ideal applications.

Thermal overload protection, running stall and jam protection, earth fault and short circuit protection along with selectable start attempt limitations are features of the relay. Integrated within this relay is a 4-20 mA analog output that is automatically calibrated so that a 20 mA output represents the full load of the motor.

The relays are available in Amp calibration range from 0,8 A to 1 680 A split over six amperage selection bands. A popular alternative is the seventh model that is calibrated in percentages (30 to 110% of the current transformer primary input), making it the preferred choice for inventory spares.
