Telco sensors go green

February 2015 Sensors & Transducers

The need for efficient water management in our country has never been as important as it is in the present day. In one such instance, Telco Sensors collaborates to conserve this vital element by using its Amplifier Bus System to efficiently manage irrigation systems. Remote sensors are used to detect the plants moving along a track. When a plant is detected the electro-valves are activated and irrigation starts. Once the plant is out of the detection area the valves are closed again, thus ensuring that no water is wasted.

The Telco Sensors Amplifier (PAB) is a new system concept designed around several features that were requested by customers and include flexible modular design allowing amplifiers to be connected together to form a multi channel system and high penetration power for contaminated environments and hostile conditions. It also features an alarm output, test input and light and dark function within the same modular system.

The PAB series consists of three amplifier module models that serve as the building blocks for a multiplexed, modular bus system. They are available in 10-30 VDC/ 24 VAC supply and provide PNP transistor and relay outputs for each individual channel. The amplifier series is to be used in conjunction with Telco’s remote sensors (Light Transmitter LT and Light Receiver LR).

They can be used in two different modes: Stand-Alone function where the amplifier models can operate as individual (independent) standalone units, or Modular function where the amplifier models can also operate as modular units that are connected together to form a multiplexed modular system. Up to 10 amplifiers can be connected together to provide up to 30 channels. The multiplexing function ensures that cross-talk between channels is eliminated. The bus connection is connected via the 5-pin rail bus positioned on the DIN rail.
