Dehn Protection South Africa has launched DEHNconcept aimed at providing design services to architects, planners, electrical consultants and other lightning protection companies. Taking South Africa’s beleaguered electrical infrastructure and propensity to summer thunderstorms into account, there is high-demand for expert advice and knowledge, reliable and efficient surge and lightning protection, and state-of-the-art safety equipment – all of which DEHN provides.
The DEHNconcept service includes the development of external lightning protection systems. These concepts for isolated and conventional air-termination systems range from simple office and administration buildings and parts of installations, to large industrial plants for all kinds of industry sectors such as photovoltaics, biogas, the petrochemical industry and power stations. All solutions are in line with the IEC 62305 standard. The design service includes a full description of the lightning protection concept including:
• Site and risk assessment.
• Soil resistivity tests.
• Full lightning protection system design.
• Earth termination system design.
• 3D modulation of the earth termination and LPS.
• Specification development.
• Technical seminars on LPS standards, arrester selection, earthing systems etc.
From this, DEHNconcept will be able to determine the required lightning protection level (LPL), manage the complete design, process detailed drawings, and provide installation details, a bill of materials and material offers.
