Technology workshops for engineers and technicians

IDC Technologies, an international engineering and technology training company, is holding a series of highly practical engineering workshops in South Africa.

Its latest round of 'hands-on' workshops include:

Practical industrial networking

* Johannesburg 12 and 13 November 2001.

* Durban 15 and 16 November 2001.

* Cape Town 19 and 20 November 2001.

This two-day workshop equips those attending with the tools to analyse, specify, commission and debug LAN (especially Ethernet) and related systems in the automation, instrumentation and control environments. The workshop includes eight practical sessions.

Practical power system protection

* Johannesburg 7 and 8 November 2001.

* Durban 12 and 13 November 2001.

* Cape Town 19 and 20 November 2001.

This two-day workshop will instil a thorough understanding of the principles of power system protection systems. Attendees will learn about the correct management, better understand the possible problems that could arise and how to look for answers. Even those who claim to be protection experts have admitted to improving their knowledge after attending this workshop.

This workshop includes six practical sessions.

Practical power system protection

* Johannesburg 9 November 2001.

* Cape Town 21 November 2001.

* Durban 14 November 2001.

This one-day workshop defines the safety requirements for working on high voltage electrical switchgear. Special reference is given to the dangers of electricity; duties and responsibilities of appointed personnel; alive and dead isolated safety testing; warning notices; minimum earthing requirements; work permit systems; live chambers; prohibited area and the issuing and keeping of keys. This workshop includes eight practical sessions. All bookings made before the 26 October 2001 will be given a 5% discount off the standard IDC Technologies workshop fee. (All IDC Technologies workshops are available as customised in-house training workshops.)
