SKF Agri Solutions at Nampo 2014

May 2014 News

SKF South Africa leads the agricultural market as a value adding solutions partner through the development of innovative agricultural solutions that set the benchmark in reliable, maintenance-free operation.

Efficient soil cultivation is crucial to sustainable agricultural production. SKF has a superior quality product range that optimises the performance of soil cultivation machines including Agri Hub 1 for disc harrows and independent discs on planters, Agri Hub for seeding discs and furrow openers, Yelag maintenance-free insert bearings and power transmission products.

Unscheduled downtime caused by bearing failures on cultivation machines during the crucial planting and harvesting periods, places the farmer at risk,” explains SKF key account manager for agriculture, Charl Engelbrecht.

SKF’s development of a unique and innovative maintenance-free bearing with lifelong lubrication presents farmers with a reliable and efficient solution. The SKF Agri Hub 1(BAA-0004) is an extremely high quality, robust unit designed with a special 5-lip patented sealing arrangement that has been successfully tested under extreme dust and mud conditions. The ‘mud block’ seal and special labyrinth, central to the sealing principle, provides dynamic sealing against the ingress of foreign materials.

Due to the reliable operation of Agri Hub 1, farmers are specifying these units when purchasing new implements. This success also gave rise to SKF’s recent development of an Agri Hub for seeding discs. Ideal for smaller seed coulter and furrow opener applications, the unit includes the same ingenious 5-lip patented sealing arrangement to deliver all the accompanying benefits and not surprisingly, farmers are reporting excellent results.

SKF also offers a wide range of power transmission solutions to the agricultural market segment that will be on display on the Bolt & Engineering stand in the Santam Hall at Nampo 2014.
