All weight measurement functions start with a loadcell, so a wise choice can make a big difference.
Vishay Revere’s air and water tight option
Vishay Revere seals have been engineered and perfected to withstand severe environmental abuse. Users may not always have to work in a caustic atmosphere, but it is reassuring to know that users can, even if it is just to hose things down once in a while.
Sealing actually takes place at two critical areas – where the strain gauge and element are isolated, and where the cable is brought out of the loadcell – and both require special attention. It is normal for manufacturers to use potting or epoxy for the element seal. Epoxy may test hermetically sound initially, but it can, over the long run, allow moisture to enter. Since long run is the name of the game, Vishay Revere uses a precision, stainless-to-stainless weld for the element seal. The cable-exit seal requires a different approach as it involves dissimilar materials. Here Vishay Revere provides an extra large, extra supportive compression seal to make sure loadcells will remain as secure as they were on the day of installation.
Corrosion resistance and bonding
The material that goes into the loadcell is an important consideration. While users may not be expecting their installation to take the occasional acid bath, Vishay Revere’s loadcells are able to hold up even in that unexpected eventuality.
Ideally, the strain gauge should become an inseparable part of the metal surface, but without losing its electrical isolation. Vishay Revere has spent a lot of time perfecting materials and bonding techniques, and the benefit is evident in the accuracy and repeatability of its devices.
Custom solutions for pressure measurement Instrotech
Sensors & Transducers
Wherever pressure sensors are needed, a solution can normally be found in the Keller product catalogue. However, there are often great benefits to optimising a product specifically for integration and use in complete existing systems.

Pressure Measurement & Control
Temperature plays a significant role in many manufacturing processes. In such cases, a tempering machine is used to maintain the manufacturing process at the desired temperature. Keller supplied PR-21Y piezoresistive pressure transmitters to a client specialising in developing and producing oil and water tempering machines.

Temperature Measurement
During metal casting, the liquid material is poured into a mould, and after solidification becomes a solid body. Both too-high and too-low casting temperatures can lead to quality defects. The compact Optris PI 05M infrared thermal imaging camera from Instrotech can monitor the casting process.

Everyone has walked along a wet beach at some time and noticed how the damp sand wobbles like jelly when stepped on several times. This may be fun on a beach, but it’s no joke at a construction site or in an earthquake. Houses and streets built on drained swampland or unconsolidated soil or sediment can sink in certain situations, after which they must be condemned for use.
