GS Engineering & Construction has chosen Metso to supply automation for the Dangjin 4 Biomass power plant, currently under construction in Dangjin City in South Korea. Once completed in 2015, the 105 MW plant will be the largest of its kind in Asia. “We chose Metso because the company has much experience demanding biomass-fired power plants. It also fulfilled our technical support requirements,” says Gye Man Jeong, general manager, GS E&C.
The plant will be fuelled with a mix consisting of 80 percent palm kernel shells and 20% coal. Metso’s advanced automation applications make it possible to control even difficult fuel mixes with varying fuel ratios.
