Wika has recently competed for - and won - a contract against an international giant in automation to supply more than 150 temperature probes with Profibus PA head-mounted temperature transmitters.
The probes are to be assembled at Wika Klingenberg, for a German contractor - Lockwood Green Paterson, near Frankfurt/Main - supplying Babcock Borsig Power Steinmüller. The probes will eventually be used on the Waterval Smelter - Rustenburg.
Wika offered its T42 Profibus temperature transmitter, designed for universal use in the process industry. The Profibus technology makes it possible for up to seven transmitters to be operated in parallel on one Profibus PA string via one segment coupler in hazardous areas.
The T42 is universally programmable for RTDs, thermocouples, as well as resistance and millivolt inputs. Available in intrinsically safe version PROFIBUS PA field bus protocol 100% RH protection, with moisture condensation permissible.
