ifm electronic has introduced the DTE100 RFID evaluation unit with an integrated Profibus-DP interface. Also featuring a web server, the new RFID system platform can be used in production to track tooling, for quality assurance such as for electronic route cards, in assembly/handling technology for the automotive industry and in conveying for part tracking.
Compact in design with a robust housing, the DTE100 is suitable for installation directly on the machine. It acts as the evaluation unit for up to four attached RFID antennas and transmits the data collected via the Profibus-DP interface. Set-up and integration into the higher-level process control is uncomplicated and program examples are supplied.
The four connections are multi-purpose, so where only one or two RFID antenna inputs are needed the spare ports can easily be used as standard digital inputs or even as an output. The range of available antennas also makes any identification task easy, with systems for different read/write distances and data rates. The range includes not only LF transponders with up to 2 Kbit memory but also HF transponders with a 16 Kbit FRAM version that can be rewritten an unlimited number of times.
Power is supplied directly via an M12 connection, and to simplify wiring, the antennas are supplied from the DTE100.
