German based Weiss Technik has introduced its temperature shock test chamber model TS60, which in less than 10 seconds subjects test items to both extremely hot and icily cold conditions. This shock treatment is usually used to test environmental conditions on the function and reliability of electronic devices, components and systems to determine if sudden temperature changes have an influence on a specimen’s long-term functionality. Other uses are to determine if safe operation is guaranteed after a sudden temperature changes, or perhaps to detect any early failure defects, or to forecast the life expectancy of a product.
The test space volume inside the chamber is 60 litres and the loading capacity of the interior lift is 20 kg. Temperature variance for the hot chamber is +50 to 220°C, while the cold chamber can reach temperatures from -80 to +70°C. A temperature shock between hot and cold is achieved by rapidly transferring the specimens placed in the lift between two independently controlled chambers, one hot and the other cold. This lift is able to alternate between chambers in less than 10 seconds.
The TS60 has an easy plug-in design, and can be controlled using optional software capable of networking up to 99 testing systems with a PC. The archiving of all parameters is possible and test specifications such as DIN 40 046 and IEC 60068-2-14 are easily fulfilled.
