Sartorius redefines the traditional balance with Quintix
July 2013Analytical Instrumentation & Environmental Monitoring
Sartorius teamed up with experienced laboratory users to develop the user interface for its new Quintix – the results have set a new standard. No manual is needed to start operation and it takes only seconds to adapt the Ouintix to obtain traceable results using the built-in applications. It is an instrument for users requiring a reliable balance with the convenience of plug-and-work data transfer and fast results with maximum accuracy and efficiency.
Twelve available models cover a variety of ranges with internal calibration implemented via the isoCAL adjustment function to ensure consistently accurate results. The balances are manufactured in Germany from high-grade materials. For example, weigh cells are mounted on a solid, special aluminium alloy base plate impervious to ambient conditions, such as temperature fluctuations and vibration. Plug and work technology ensures fast and reliable GLP-compliant records.
The standard built-in applications allow users to customise Quintix for a variety of weight measurement tasks. For instance the density application and Sartorius density kit allows for effortless determination of the density of solids and liquids. This is just one of the 11 available applications. Others include counting, conversion, statistics and check weighing for tolerances. Peak hold locks in readings and there is a percentage function for automatic comparisons.

At its peak in 1994, the energy generation capacity of the UK’s nuclear power stations was 12,7 GW across 16 plants. In 2024, the capacity has fallen to around 5 GW, and the number of stations is down to nine. However, this is far from the end of the story as spent nuclear fuel remains radioactive for centuries, and requires rigorous safety processes to safeguard against leaks.
